Drama and Fun

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Parental Unit (aka Mom)!

Life has been just grand lately. On Friday Danny, AlexK, AlexH, Michol, Gattis and a few random people went sledding during the snow storm. We had such a good time, we used a friend's sleds and were outside for a good two hours. Michol and I actually rode the sleds down the hill like snowboards (a feet the guys could not manage). Unfortunately I bruised myself pretty bad since there was a lot of ice under the snow. We came back inside and AlexK asked us if we had any clothes he could borrow since he was soaked, I lent him a shirt and offered a skirt as a joke. To my surprise Danny took the skirt and wore it. (I'll post a picture at some point becuase it was just too damn funny). Michol and I forgot we had told a friend we would hang out that night so she (Nicole) came and found us and she was very upset. But I didn't bend to her (she's not used to being told no) and played guitar hero instead. That may sound bitchy but she's insane....you'll see.

Saturday: good times had by most. Michol and I went to my friend Nick's b-day bash at an amazing restaurant called The Great Lost Bear in Portland. We had plans for a Paddy's day with Nicole and though we'd be back in time. While there we had amazing food, and good laughs. My friend Chris came as well and we always have a good time. (Michol said later that we would make a cute couple , lol this being the first guy I ever kissed who has a long lasting GF, anyway...) We called Nicole saying we'd be late to the party because we still had to pay and such before heading back. Fifteen minutes later (Stephen had to get cake silly boy, making our stay longer), she called AlexH and was really upset, and said she was canceling the shin-dig. We procede to take our good ol time getting home and stop to rent Lock, Stock and Layer Cake to watch with the birthday people. *FLASH FORWARD*
It's Sunday night and Allison and I are heading out to go to the Frisbee game: There's Michol (working the front desk signing people into the dorm), and Nicole in tears. We asked her what was wrong and she explained that she felt ditched and such. And that I had apparently told her and AlexH that they weren't allowed to talk (Like I care if they want to sleep together, they're both like that). We agreed that we were in poor form but explained that we had never Intended to insult and hurt her. No matter what we did she felt justified to flip out. (I learned later that she's on anti-psychotics, and other meds, not to mention she had to go to the hospital after having a freak out about her boyfriend dumping her). So yeah she has abandonment problems. Ha, and yeah Nicole, Allison, Michol and Alex (plus Nevins latter in the week) are coming to my house for vacation and I can't uninvite people without huge ramifications.

Sunday/Frisbee: Such a good game! My team and the older group from Portland combined forces and in total (throughout the night) there had to be about thirty people. We played Boot (an alternate version of Ultimate) inside the basketball court. It was intense I've never had so much fun, though my face we so red I could have stood in for a primary color. When the other half of the court was cleared we played a real game of Ultimate. Looking at my knees now and i totally understand why my knees are always so messed up. Now I'm procrastinating with the best of them, though I want to get things done so I can watch Layer Cake tonight.

long time

I finished my knife yesterday! My friend Nick was showing me how to forge and I took a piece of rebarb and turned it into a knife. I did almost all of the work, Nick helped with the end becuase it was a two person job. It's not tempered though so I can't truly use it. It's also not balanced, becuase I wasn't thinking about that. But I still love it, I need to find a place I can temper it or have someone do it for me. but that would take awhile.....

So Saturday night two friends of mine, Justin and Ben, dropped in to say hi. I met in Ben, who's 23, at a past party last year at the cast party. (fyi he and Justin are gay) Ben was going to stay in Justin's room but we came to the realization that Justin's room is tiny and his room mate was going to come in around 4:30am drunk. So I offered my room as a crash pad. Fast forward through many one liners and lots of talking, to Ben going to sleep in my bed, I just made him move over. Anyway woke up this morning to my room mate getting ready for church. I just found that extremely amusing. Now I need to stop procrastinating about a history of the internet paper, a psych test and all my other normal work. Oh yeah I get to have an MRI done for my knee on wed! I can't wait, it's going to be interesting and I will finally know what's going on with my clicking knee.

today

I went shopping today. I had a gift card for Marshalls so I bought two skirts. The girls and I (meaning Rachel, Michol and Allison) went to the mall where I got another skirt for half price. We then went "prom dress" shopping, basically we tried on anything and everything. i actually fit into a dress marked size 8!!! ha ha ha, if only that wasn't a fluke. It's scary, I'm becoming girly.....ahhhhh! On the way home we can into accident traffic. After going no where for fifteen or so, Michol and I jumped out of the car and ran down the road. found out there was an accident and jumped back into the car, which failed to totally stop for us. After the shortest dinner on record we grabbed Alex and went to Falmouth for contra dancing. it was so much fun. Michol had never been before and did a great job! I got to dance with a lot of nice guys, (one guy named Noah was amazing and extremely cute ) and my stalker guy (he's older, like late 50s and always wants to dance with me, but he sucks and is creepy). i managed to only get one blister this time so my feet are happy. i'm exhausted and it's now 1:30am, so to sleep I am going..... i'll write about my computer happiness tomorrow

And i'm back!

I just got in from my trip to the island. It was a lot of fun. We mainly hung out, made good food, watched way too much television and ran around the island. There really isn't anything to do out there, especially during the winter when you can't go swimming in the quarries (which are around 95" deep). We lost one out of three cats though. They go outdoors and Grey didn't come back in, so we're hoping that he's just really enjoying himself somewhere and not dead. Nevins lent me "The Wee Free Men" by Terry Pratchett, it's hilarious and a short read (375pgs). I highly recommend it, although I haven't gotten to the end yet. Well now i'm back and twiddling my thumbs, doing homework and such until Monday when school starts up again.

been a long time

It has, but anyway things are going relativly well hree in the land of ice and snow. Classes are hard but worth it, or at least I hope they are. I'm starting work at a middle school next friday doing observations for my Literacy Development class. I'm working with fifth graders and I'm a little nervous about it. I just had an Environmental exam and I'm praying for a good grade on it. I'm at my other campus center waiting for my ride to pick me up, rachel and allison. No idea what we're going to do....something fun. Next week will be interesting, but on friday I start the school thing, have my first exam for psych 2 (which i'm taking along with psych 1, yup i'm retarded for doing so). and then I have an interview for being an RA from 4-5. Then I an actually celebrate my b-day. I might go to a goth valentines day dance but i'm not sure. I do have a dress for it though :D and maybe I'll post pictures....maybe.

Vacation! Yeah I can't wait it starts on the 18th and I'm going to go watch the Vmonologues that night with Nevins. (Rachel and Erica are preforming in it). Then on the 19th Rachel, Nevins, Alex and I are going to an island off the coast of maine! His mother has a house there and we're going to stay until Thursday morning. It's going to be a lot of fun. The Ferry ride is an hour and a half long. I've been to the island before so it should be a fun rememberance. That's Jen's life in a nut shell.

In honor of the super bowl.....

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND---THE FOOTBALL VERSION

1. All teams must make the state playoffs and all MUST win the championship. If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable. If, after two years, they have not won the championship their footballs and equipment will be taken away UNTIL they do win the championship.

2. All kids will be expected to have the same football skills at the same time even if they do not have the same conditions or opportunities to practice on their own. NO exceptions will be made for lack of interest in football, a desire to perform athletically, or genetic abilities or disabilities of themselves or their parents.

ALL KIDS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT A PROFICIENT LEVEL!

3. Talented players will be asked to workout on their own, without instruction. This is because the coaches will be using all their instructional time with the athletes who aren't interested in football, have limited athletic ability or whose parents don't like football.

4. Games will be played year round, but statistics will only be kept in the 4th, 8th, and 11th game. It will create a New Age of Sports where every school is expected to have the same level of talent and all teams will reach the same minimum goals. If no child gets ahead, then no child gets left behind. If parents do not like this new law, they are encouraged to vote for vouchers and support private schools that can screen out the non-athletes and prevent their children from having to go to school with bad football players.

hello again,

Sorry it's been so long since I’ve written in here. I've been really busy with school and such. In fact I’m in class right now, Technology and Media, ha ha ha, we're going over hardware and CPU etc. :D but anyway things are going just fine in school.

My friends Nevins and Rachel are sort of together not really official. She says that she doesn't want a relationship right now but then will turn right around and kiss him or something. It's hard I’ve only been friends with them for this year but I know that I want to be their friends for a long time. I love them both to death, they're very good friends and they have told me that if they had to choose they would rather keep me as a friend then a relationship with each other. That makes me both happy and sad, because I would hate to be the reason why things didn't work out. I think that Nevins knows that I liked him to begin with, but we're still good friends. To tell the truth I am jealous of Rachel but not because of Nevins specifically but because of her situation. She has to beat them off with a stick. (She got asked out by two guys this week) >< but if Nevins and Rachel work out then so much the better. *sigh*

I went over to Nevins' house yesterday and helped him and his father move some linoleum and just hang out. His step mother makes incredible jewelry and bags. It's expensive but soooo nice. On the way back to campus (30min) we listened to Against Me!, it's such a good band. Go onto Pandora and look them up, hopefully "Pint of Guinness makes you stronger" comes up.

This week I’m gong to be working hard to get all my stuff done. I'm going to see Pan's Labyrinth on Thursday then going to the Art Walk on Friday (not sure what it is but Rachel wants me to come) and then a bunch of us are going contra dancing. It's going to be a busy week.

Sign the petition!

Will you help put us over the top?

We set out to collect 100,000 signatures on our "Support Birth
Control. Stop Keroack" petition. Right now, we're just a few
thousand short and you can make today the day we meet our goal.

Sign our "Support Birth Control. Stop Keroack" Petition now!
http://www.ppaction.org/campaign/keroackpetition/wiskn5d4obn8ee7 ?

Election Day gave us a lot to celebrate, but we can't rest for a
moment because people like Keroack just won't quit.

Keroack doesn't even believe in birth control, but the Bush
administration put him in charge of Title X, America's family
planning program.

Now, Phill Kline has resurfaced as well. Kline is something of
an anti-choice celebrity, gaining notoriety for his repeated
attempts to seize confidential medical records of Planned
Parenthood patients. Decisively defeated in his bid for
re-election as Kansas Attorney General, party leaders have just
elected him to serve as a county district attorney. No doubt,
Kline will use his new platform to continue pursuing his radical
anti-choice agenda. As one local leader commented in the
newspaper, "He's like a bad rash; he just won't go away."

We've got to show the Keroacks and Klines of this world that we
won't be denied. No matter how hard they try, we won't let them
stand in the way of our commonsense, pro-prevention health care
agenda.

If you haven't signed our Stop Keroack petition, please act now.
If you have signed, please pass this on and ask your friends to
sign.

Sign our "Support Birth Control. Stop Keroack" Petition now.
http://www.ppaction.org/campaign/keroackpetition/wiskn5d4obn8ee7?

As 2006 draws to a close, let's make it clear that we're ready,
willing, and able to do whatever it takes to forge forward. And
we won't let the Eric Keroacks and Phil Klines of this world
stand in our way -- not for a minute.

We are so close to our goal of 100,000 signatures. Please act
now to put us over the top.

Sincerely,

Cecile Richards
President
Planned Parenthood Federation of America

*************************************************

Sign the Petition
http://www.ppaction.org/campaign/keroackpetition/wiskn5d4obn8ee7?

*************************************************

OK here is what I want to do. I want to have a New Years party at my house and I want people to actually come! I have at least two buds from college but I would love to have others come. This party would not be a "drunken" one, there can be drinking just no drunkenness. It will be a Lots of food, fun and games sort of party. I will be making tons of yummies, and everyone needs to come. Oh yeah this is also going to be a sleep over, no one is driving home. (Anna this includes you and Krista). RSVP and i'll send you an invite!

(haven't talked to parents but they'll be cool about it, would NOT be a heavy drinking party, more like a Jen's baking shit loads and needs friends to eat it all and be merry) OR there could be another location(?) either way I need to do something on New Years!

I've come to realize that I stay up WAY too late at night. For instance the boys (Nevins and Alex) came over to watch movies and hang out. We went up to Rachel's room to help her on her design project (she had to have a ping-pong ball in motion for 15 seconds and have it make two noises). We met up with Stephen and Laura and we all went back down to my room. by that time it was already late...or early. I convinced Nevins to stay and watch a movie with us, that took no effort . and then we all piled onto my bed and watched The Mummy. in order left to right there was Nevins, Laura, Alex, me and Rachel lying across all of us (Stephen decided to sit that one out on the floor). The movie got over around 2:30am and everyone split up. I walked the boys downstairs to say good bye and check in with Erica who was on duty. I meandered into the lounge to hang out with Mark and wound up staying there until 4:30....yeah i know dumb but hilarious.

I managed to wake up at 11, and then get most of my art portfolio done (Hurrah!), now I need to work on two lab reports and watch Little Women again, this time with commentary, and bake a cake with Allison......good times, good times....but soooo tired. I'm hoping to get together with Nevins again tonight for another movie or something then I have to get up at 8am, in order to get ready to go to Rachel's house with my roomy Michol, Rachel and Laura. We're baking cookies, tubbing (hot tub), and just hang out and forget about finals. It's going to be a fun weekend, I can tell.

The girls made me up for a concert last Friday, at which I had a grand ol'time.

However, remember the one person mosh-pit?, yeah well i'm getting my foot x-rayed on Wed. and then i'm going to see a podiatrist that same day. Yeah it still hurts, gah it's annoying. At this rate I wont be able to play ultimate Monday night. I'm trying to write a five page paper for Tuesday and it's not going so well, I'm looking at Brokeback from a Feminist point of view, it's one of two options....it's going to be hard.

My student center was giving away Betta fish on Saturday and I'm so glad I got one! I invited my friend Nevins to the event, thinking it was a movie night sort of deal because it was called Finding Nemo. But he said he didn't want a fish so I said, "that's ok you can give yours to me!" And so he did. The plan was to give one to Susie but she might be getting different kinds of fish and bettas don't like other fish. So I now have two fish, one's white/bluey and the other is redish-pink. I haven't named them yet, any idea? here they are...

Betta #1

Betta #2

Things are going well up here in good old Maine. My sister's getting married to a wonderful man and my life is working itself out. I got to play Ultimate again on Thursday and had a blast. At the end there were only a few of us so we stayed and threw the frisbee around. I was standing near my friend Nevin and we started to race to see who could get the frisbee first. t turned into more of a take down the other before they can get to it, full tackle sort of match. It was soooo much fun, even after I got a arm to the windpipe. That was hillarious involving me not talking for a few seconds then saying. "OK I can talk it's all good," looks at Nevin, "you're mine now bitch!" then me proceeding to get the frisbee, it was a lot of fun.

On Friday Rachel and I went to a concert at a local school. We went because a friend of ours, Mark, invited us. So we drove 40minutes to see his band. The band that went on before them was amazing. It was pure metal and they were great. The concert was supposed to be no-violence but there was this one guy who deciding to mosh by himself....mind you the room is TINY! So my foot got crushed and I got punched in the arm, my foot still hurts. I had to pull Rachel behind me so she wouldn't get hurt. Then later the bastard did it again, both times the head guy had to go over and tell him to stop. Mark's band was good but you couldn't hear the singers voice at all until he did the screaming thing that was my only complaint about it, Rachel thought they were the best ones there. We left after they started to pack up and had to beat a few people to get out the door...stupid high schoolers.

OK one more thing. I've been thinking about getting a tattoo on my foot, more specifically in my teva tan. I found an image I really like but I think I will have a friend tweak it a bit. But nonetheless was looking for an opinion. I wouldn't be getting it until spring i think.

Friday night

wow what a night, short though it was. Rachel, Michol and I went out shopping for costumes. Rachel turned into a rave fairy (because she had a black dress with lime green edges and lime wings), Michol was Atheana and I was a woman from the 1920's (a flapper). WE got all dressed up and went to a party in Portland. I only had a sip of something weak and hung out for about thirty-mins. At which point the cops showed up and Rachel and I ran away with a mostly drunk friend and drove him back home. I had a good time nonetheless, i wish I had gotten more to drink, becuase I like the uplifted feeling, but not enough to actually be truley 'impaired' or drunk, just lighter. But anyway on another note, i'm still searching for that person. Anna knows what I mean..."Miss you till I meet you."

This weekend I have to write a seven page essay on Hitchcock, read Brokeback mountain, watch it and do all my homework for my other classes, including drawing someone for art. *sigh* i'm never going to leave my room. Oh yeah and it's pouring outside so no running away today.

So far i'm loving my classes, but I'm really nervous about today. I'm getting two tests back, one from Archaeology and another from Art History. I've never had to take tests like these before and i'm scared that I didn't do well. ARG! Other than that things are going well. I've been hanging out more with friends and have been trying to go to the gym 3x a week. Funny story: My Roomie, Michol, had a friend staying over and we had all gone to bed around 12:30am. At some point in the morning I heard the door creak open and then surprizingly felt someone get into MY bed. I was like "WTF" if this is James (michol's friend) i'm going to beat him. I rolled over to find my friend Rachel snuggling into my huge amounts of blankets. "This might be a stupid question, but what are you doing in my bed?" I said. She responded with, "good story i'll tellyou later." And we both fell back asleep. Later I asked her what the story was. (Mind you she's an RA) "Well, I locked myself out of my room and am waiting until 9 to wake Bobby (another RA) up." It was just soo funny, FYI, Rachel's one of the pirates in the pirate day photo. Well time to go to the gym...arg.

WEll my day had been Uber productive and fun! I got to go on an Archeological dig today! It was sooo much fun. I was there from 9-3:30. We dug out a 2mx2mx40cm pit and shifted all of the dirt from it. There were a total of 4 units, and I was on unit 3. I got to work with my friend Tom (he's a super senior, he has 150credits and is 30) and Josh. And now I have two guys (Mark and his firend) in my room having a jam session, it's awesome! So overall, it's been a good day!

Note from Susie!!!

A Weekend of Celebrations
Hello fellow RvB peeps, from Bewencher and MtBikerInME,

We have decided that instead of posting seperate journals, we are going to write one journal together. Susie will write about Saturday and then Alan will take over to write about Sunday. So, here we go!

Susie: Saturday was my day to surprise Alan to celebrate our one year anniversary, which was last Wednesday. I spent a while trying to decide on something that would be special for both of us and something that we normally wouldn't do. In the end, I wound up chosing to take Alan on the Notch Train at the Conway Scenic Railroad. We boarded a trail in North Conway, New Hampshire, and got settled in to the last car on the train. The trains and cars are relatively old and are pretty cool. We left the station at 11:00 for our 5.5 hour expedition up through the notches in the White Mountains. While the train clanked along, a conductor told us some history of the area and the railroad via a loud speaker. It was really interesting and it was cool to see everything from the perspective of a train car. Once we made it out of the valley and started to climb into the notches, the views were fantastic. It was so cool to see everything from the side of the mountain versus the top or bottom that most people see it from. We got off the train at Crawford Station and had a picnic lunch. The weather was perfect! After we got back onto the train we continued to Fabyan Station where we turned around and headed back down into the valley. The trip was really pretty and I did managed to surprise Alan with it. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Here is a picture of our train waiting at Crawford Station:

Alan: Sunday was to be my day for surprising Susie, so I decided that since she loves hiking so much, and since this was to be in celebration of our 1 year of dating, that it would be nice if the two of us went and hiked Mt. Osceloa (the first 4000ft mountian that we hiked together). The weather was perfect, it started out as a cold fall morning, but shortly into the hike things warmed up alot, and began to feel more like a late summer day. To get to Mt. Osceloa, we first had to assend East Osceloa, which too was over 4000. After we reached the summit of East Osceloa, which has no view, we decended a little before we began our final ascent to Mt. Osceloa. Once on top, we blessed with spectacular views and near infinite visibility, just as it was the first time we hiked it. Once on top, we settled in and ate our lunch with a view. After lunch Susie began taking pictures with the new expensive digital SLR camera from the school she teaches photography at.

Here is where I make a little confession....I also had a little surprise up my sleeve for on top of the mountain. But I think that Susie could explain it best....

Susie: As Alan said, Osceola has been a special mountain for us because it was the first mountain that we hiked together. And we managed not to kill each other while hiking 14+ miles. Anyways, I started taking pictures of the scenery. After I had had my fill of those, Alan and I decided to take our usual photography together at the peak with our mini tripod. We picked a spot with Mount Washington in the background, just like our first time at the summit. Alan set up the camera, as usual, set the timer, ran over next to me, and the shutter snapped. Then we decided to get one more with me sitting so you could see more of the mountains. As before, Alan set up the camera, ran over....

and got down on one knee.

Alan: With the timer going on the carmera, as I got down on one knee, I pulled out a white ring box, and asked Susie, "will you marry me?" The camera took the picture while I was proposing and waiting for her answer which was........

Susie: YES! Of course, I said YES! He slid the ring onto my finger and I was blown away. It was perfect. He had completely surprised me. The man I have loved for so long and thought that I could read like a book had surprised me. I couldn't stop smiling as he set up the camera one last time to take our first picture as an engaged couple. I was still in shock. I couldn't believe that it had actually happened. After we got up and hugged many more times, the other hikers who had watched it all congradulated us.

So, yes, we are now officially engaged.

Picture of Alan proposing to me:

Alan: So once Susie was able to breath again and was no longer in shock, we made our way down the mountain back to our car. Along the way I kept having to remind her to breath and to look at the trail and not the sparkly thing on her finger. We also passed a couple of other hikers on our way down, and when they saw us, they said, "oh, it's the newly engaged couple", because they had seen us on top. Once down, we drove back to Susie's parents place where we had been staying during the weekend. We greated and annouced our engagment to her parents and sister (all of which knew about this since I told them I was going to propose). We then got cleaned up and we all went out to dinner to celebrate (Susie, Her Dad, Mom, Sister, and myself).

Susie: So, here we are, happily engaged. And I have a new sparklie ring on my finger.

Our weekend of celebrations turned into a lot more celebrating than I had imagined! And I am definately not complaining.

Your newly engaged couple ,
Bewencher and MtBikerInME
